Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Smoke 💨 — a soft, steady presence, like a warm curl of smoke rising from a quiet fire. This handsome brown-and-white mixed breed is as gentle as he is friendly, greeting the world with a happy heart and an easygoing nature. Smoke enjoys his walks and shows off excellent leash manners, strolling calmly by your side and taking in the moment rather than rushing through it.
At home, Smoke is a total pro. He’s fully house trained, comfortable in a crate, and appreciates a peaceful routine where he can relax and feel secure. True to his name, he settles in smoothly—never overwhelming, just quietly reassuring. Smoke thrives best as the only dog in the home, where he can soak up all the love and return it tenfold with loyalty and affection.
With his calm demeanor, gentle soul, and consistently happy attitude, Smoke is the kind of companion who makes life feel a little warmer and a lot more peaceful. If you’re looking for a devoted best friend who drifts right into your heart and stays there, Smoke is ready to be your constant, comforting presence.

The AWL is here to find the best match possible between adopters and the animals in our care. Keep in mind that a pet’s personality is way more important, and it’s best to try to find a pet that will fit into your lifestyle.

More about this shelter
The Animal Welfare League is a non-profit organization committed to advocating for animal protection and welfare. We are based in Port Charlotte, Florida. Since 1963 our shelter has served the Charlotte County community by providing a temporary home, medical service and caring attention for many dogs, cats and other animals. These animals come to us as strays, pets given up by their owners, unfortunate animals rescued from abuse and neglect, or simply lost pets in need of being re-united with their families.
