Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Poppy is a beautiful 3-year old female kitty who was brought to the HSOV on March 10, 2025 by a Good Samaritan who found her on Veto Circle in the Belpre Ohio area along with her five 2-week old kittens. Poppy was apparently homeless and doing her best to take care of her babies. Mother cats are often the unsung heroines of the animal world .. In addition to our HSOV kennel techs who also take care of the innocent, helpless souls who enter our shelter.
Poppy has a gray long-haired coat, a long fluffy tail, and a serene-looking face with golden eyes, a gray velvet nose, and long gray whiskers.
This little momma faithfully took care of her kittens and raised them in a double-wide cage for the next two months. All five of her babies survived and are now happy, playful kittens. Poppy was separated from them in early May after they were weaned and is currently in our Jungle Room where she is usually seen taking leisurely catnaps .. She has an outgoing personality and quickly comes to the door of her cage the moment she anticipates attention (or a temptation treat).
Poppy was given vaccinations, wormer, and flea treatment on March 13, 2025. She weighed 7 lbs that day. Poppy was given booster vaccines on March 27th.
Poppy was spayed on May 12, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine. She weighed 7.1 lbs that day.
These glamour photos of Poppy were taken on May 16, 2025 while she explored our 'studio' and turned on the charm..
Poppy's kittens also had their first 'big girl/big boy' photos taken that day and will be posted on our Petfinder/Adoptapet/Facebook pages to be introduced to potential adopters. Poppy has four female kittens (Crafty Corn, Bobby Bear Hug, Hoppy Hopscotch, and Picky Piggy) and one male kitten (Catnap).
Poppy loves her people friends but she does not do well with dogs (or male cats).
Poppy is ready to find a loving home of her very own either through adoption or rescue.
Rescue groups may contact our HSOV Feline Rescue Coordinator via email (sharonpaul2@suddenlink.net). We can usually help with transportation.
