Nyx is a handsome adult male Retriever mix (perhaps 2-years old) who was brought to HSOV on January 9, 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Upper Fifteen Mile Creek Road in the Wingett Run Ohio area. Nyx was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped.
This good-looking gentleman has a sleek black short smooth coat with a large white bib on his chest, white paws, a white tip on the end of his long tail, and a beautiful face with dark brown eyes, a dusting of white on his slender muzzle, a black button nose, and large semi-erect ears.
These photos of Nyx were taken on the afternoon of January 12, 2026 when HSOV Kennel Tech Emily Beaver spent time with him on a bright sunny chilly afternoon. Nyx seemed to be a 'pro' when it came to striking the best poses.
Nyx weighs approximately 60 lbs.
In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Nyx was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. As of January 16th 2026, nobody had called or came looking for this awesome boy.

The HSOV Adoption application is available at our shelter during normal hours of operation and may also be completed online via our website.

Shelter management reviews applications for approval. If approved, potential adopters will be notified.

All HSOV dogs and cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted and going to their new home.

Our adoption process includes an adoption application which must be completed and approved by our shelter management. We verify veterinarian references and also approval from landlords if the pet will be housed in rental property. Home visits may also be required prior to adoption. All dogs/cats must be spayed/neutered before being adopted.
Adoption fee for dogs is $150.00 which includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, dog tag, microchip, and spay/neuter.
Adoption fee for cats is $40 and includes vaccinations, wormer, flea treatment, and spay/neuter. Most adult cats (and kittens over 3-months of age) have already been spayed/neutered.
Adoption fees for other species varies.
