Meet Thor! He's a handsome golden shepherd mix, about 60 lbs, and we think he's about a year old. He tolerated crate testing but would rather be in the play yard with his BFF, Tonks (female mix, also available for adoption). Thor also enjoys playing ball. He does play rough, so needs a doggie companion who can give it right back without getting mad. Thor got some time away from the Pound. This is what his handler had to say about their day together.
“Thor was very excited when leaving the pound, but he had obtained a calm and quiet demeanor when traveling back to the point of nicely sitting and laying down in the bed of the truck. Thor quickly started to decompress when at the beach and park while improving on his recall and leash manners while out and about. When confronted by aggressive dogs, he quickly came and stood next to his handler showing no aggression and indicating he wanted some petting and reassurance for his correct choice. He loves to be caressed and will allow you to touch him throughout his body. He was a little confused in town, but with continued redirection and a little correction, he really started to understand what was being asked of him and walked nicely next to his handler's side. He already has the love to give, so with a little consistency in his life, he will be an all around good companion/pet.”

Thor got a “kennel break” & found an adventure buddy. Big thank you to Pamela who contacted us stating that she would be in our area on vacation from Florida and would love to take one of our dogs out for a few days. She had seen Thor on Facebook and picked him to be her weekend warrior buddy. This is what she had to say about their time together. “Thor loves to snuggle & thinks he’s a lap dog. He’s very sweet, loving & loyal to his human. He loves all the balls and all the sticks. Thor doesn’t beg for food or try to take it from you. He played at the dog park with a female Husky and a Labradoodle. He can be protective of his person especially when males approached us. He likes the beach & playing in the water. He always looks behind him to make sure that his person is there. He did well at the KOA campground around all the other dogs and children he walked by. Thor does need to be reminded not to jump on people. He listens very well when corrected - he knows the crate and does amazing getting in and out of it. He doesn’t make a peep or argue with you about it. He loves to ride in the car. He could easily be made into an outdoor adventure buddy. Thor will be the perfect companion for someone. He definitely has it in him as you can see from the pictures he got a lot of beach and river time.
