Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Catnap is an adorable male kitten who was brought to the HSOV on March 10, 2025 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Veto Circle in the Belpre Ohio area along with his four sisters (Bobby Bear Hug, Crafty Corn, Hoppy Hopscotch, and Picky Piggy) and his mother (Poppy). Catnap and his sisters were tiny 2-week old babies at that time. Momma Poppy was apparently homeless and doing her best to take care of her babies. Mother cats are often the unsung heroines of the animal world .. In addition to our HSOV kennel techs who also take care of the innocent, helpless souls who enter our shelter.
Catnap has a dark brown tabby medium-haired coat, a long tail, and a cute chubby face with golden eyes, nice 'ear furnishings', a brown velvet nose, a white muzzle, and long white whiskers.
Catnap was given vaccinations and wormer on May 9, 2025. He weighed 2.2 lbs that day. Catnap was given booster vaccines on May 20, 2025 and weighed 2.7 lbs.
Momma Poppy faithfully took care of her kittens and raised them in a double-wide cage for two months. All five of her babies survived and are now happy, playful kittens. Poppy was separated from them in early May after they were weaned. Catnap and his beautiful sisters are currently enjoying an extra-large tower in the lobby of our shelter where they engage in silly kitten games and snuggle up for group naps.
Their mother Poppy is currently in our Jungle Room where she is usually seen taking leisurely catnaps .. Poppy has an outgoing personality and quickly comes to the door of her cage the moment she anticipates attention (or a temptation treat). Poppy was spayed on May 12, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine, so she is ready to find a fabulous home.
These 'big boy' photos of Catnap were taken on May 16, 2025 while he strolled around our 'studio' in all of his cuteness and posed for the camera lens. This little playboy will have you wrapped around his paws before you realize what happened (smile).
Catnap and his sisters will be neutered/spayed (tentatively in mid-June 2025) and will soon be ready to find homes of their very own. Naturally we'd love to see them adopted with one (or more) of their siblings since kittens do so much better in pairs/trios.
Rescue groups may contact our HSOV Feline Rescue Coordinator via email (sharonpaul2@suddenlink.net). We can usually help with transportation.
Update: Catnap was neutered on July 7, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine. He weighed 4.18 lbs that day.
