Meet Paul Blart, a 13-year-old, 10-pound Maltese with a heart full of love and a story of resilience. This sweet senior came to us from another shelter in pretty rough shape, but he's been making great strides and is now ready to find a forever home where he can be loved and cherished.
Paul Blart, a distinguished, mature Maltese, is searching for his forever dream home. He let his foster parents know what he is looking for, so here is his wish list.
Paul is looking for a retired person(s) to adopt him, preferably with a backyard with a bit of grass for him to explore, an open space where he can sleep at night (he has a serious dislike of crates, so he has a play pen to eat and sleep in, where he feels safe, but can see what is going on in the foster home.) Paul is not looking for children to entertain, he prefers mature humans who understand his desire for peace and quiet.
Paul has had his teeth removed from neglect, so is enjoying having his kibble ground up a bit and softened before presenting his meals to him. After two weeks with his fosters, he has finally slowed down his marathons of gobbling his meals.
Paul seems a bit hard of hearing, or perhaps he is just being selective, but that does not stop him from exploring everywhere he is allowed to go. He has not likely been shown affection and is not interested in cuddling. He does, however, watch his foster brothers play, though he does not attempt to join in.
Paul is learning it is ok to have a bath and to be brushed and combed every day. He is doing well with going potty outside and is even making it through the night with few mistakes. He willingly joins his foster family for a brief walk down the street and back. He has not been amenable to longer walks yet, but maybe in time he will feel safe enough to see the neighborhood.
Paul says he does not need dog toys, he has never had them before and is not curious about them at all.
Could you be his forever family? He is estimated to be about 13 yrs old, but he acts younger than that and is following his fosters around, looking and smelling and seeing what they are doing. He weighs in at 11 lbs, so a lightweight and easy to carry once he understands you are going to be good to him. He will bloom with patience and care, and a home with another small breed would be ideal for him to have a shining example to follow.
Adoption fee is: $150
ALL adoptions require a completed application, vet check, home check and final contract. The application to adopt can be found at www.camorescue.com.
Adoption fees are variable. Up to date vaccines, microchip, spay/neuter are included in the fee.
Once your application has been approved, we will put you in touch with a CAMO representative to set up a meet and greet. We select the best applicant for each dog, based on the dog's needs. For the safety of our small breed dogs and based on our past experiences, we will not place our dogs in homes with large breed dogs.

More about this rescue
CAMO Rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that offers life, health, and a forever home. We specialize in dogs that other rescues can’t or won’t take due to fearful nature or medical needs. We primarily rescue ‘euthanasia listed’ animals that are in immediate danger of death. We provide shots, spay/neuter, microchip, foster homes, food, medical treatment and love to dogs that are abandoned, unwanted or otherwise in need. We never euthanize an animal to make room for another. In addition to caring for our dogs and finding the best possible home for them, we provide education to the community; encouraging and promoting responsible pet ownership. If needed, our rescue dogs are retrained to socialize in an adoptive loving family. We have had phenomenal success, and amazing support from our community. We believe that animals, as living creatures are entitled to a quality life, respect and compassion. Since humans have domesticated animals, we have a moral and ethical responsibility to care for them. We are partnered with many Shelters to help them reach the same goal.
