🚗 Tugaloo Needs a Ride (and a Home!) to Wisconsin – June 21st 🐾

This beautiful red hound mix is as joyful as her name suggests—“Tugaloo” means “tumbling waters” in Cherokee, the perfect reflection of her bubbly, playful spirit.

Tugaloo is a young, curious girl with a heart full of love and a nose for adventure. She’s friendly with other dogs, brave in new situations, and full of patient, gentle energy. Her unique merle freckles and goofy grin only add to her charm, and she’s working hard on her leash skills—gaining confidence every day!

But Tugaloo’s story isn’t just about playtime and belly rubs—she’s also a survivor. As a puppy, she was found by animal control locked in a freezer. Against all odds, she survived and later found a loving home. Sadly, she was recently returned when her adopter was diagnosed with cancer and could no longer care for her.

Now, Tugaloo needs a fresh start — and she can’t get there without your help.

📍 She’s looking to catch a ride from Georgia to Wisconsin on June 21st with Mutt Life Dog Rescue. But without a committed foster or adopter waiting at the end of the line, she can’t make the trip.

✨ About Tugaloo:
Dog- and kid-friendly 🐶👧
House trained and an excellent leash walker 🚶‍♀️
Rides well in the car 🚙
Active, playful, and loves toys 🎾
A little barky in the kennel (she prefers being close to her people)
Unknown with cats
Tugaloo is full of heart and potential — a sweet, spirited companion ready for her next big adventure. ❤️

👉 If you can foster or adopt her in Wisconsin, or help with transport, please reach out today. Let’s give this amazing girl the future she deserves!

ADOPTION PROCESS:
1.) Apply: Fill out an adoption application completely and submit all necessary documents.

2.) Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email.

3.) Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: After approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5-day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it's the right fit.

4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue.

5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process, we conduct a home visit either in person or via Zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have.

6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. The procedure MUST be done at HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI, or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI. If you would like to go through your veterinarian or another location, we will reimburse $150 once we receive proof of the procedure. We recommend spay/neuter around 6 months old.

**Note: Adoptions are not considered final until the dog is neutered/spayed if applicable**
