My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB: March 7, 2023

Meet Mongoose! He is a sweet, energetic kitty who has made amazing progress in his confidence and socialization. When he arrived at his foster home, Mongoose was shy and fearful, and unsure whether he can trust humans. However, with some time, patience, and love, Mongoose is now showing his true colours! He is a young and playful cat who would benefit from having a feline playmate and/or humans who are able to make time to play with him and get his energy out! He has also met a cat-friendly dog and was very comfortable around him.

Not much is known about Mongoose's history, as he was found as a stray. Although his confidence has grown immensely, his adopters should be prepared for the possibility that he might be pretty shy at first and hide while he settles in to his new home. He does not like to be cornered or restrained, so giving him space and not picking him up unless necessary is key.

Mongoose will let you know if his boundaries are being crossed with a little chomp or gentle swat of his paw, or by escaping to a safe hiding place. For this reason, it is not recommended that he go to a home with small children, and his adopters should be knowledgeable about cat body language. Not to worry, though, once he is more comfortable, he will be vocalizing his desire for attention and rubbing up against your hands and legs demanding pets! He is getting a little more comfy with being picked up for short periods, but will need more time and socialization to be fully ok with it.

Mongoose has a healthy appetite and has no issues with using the litter box. He enjoys mouse toys, wand toys, and catnip. He will eat any and all cat food, and also has been known to munch on plants, so those will need to be out of his reach! He feels the most brave when the sun goes down, so expect some nighttime play at the beginning while he adjusts! After he feels more settled, he will come out during the day, and after an evening play session will go to sleep once his humans are in bed.

If you are looking for a sweet, chatty, playful kitty, Mongoose is your guy! With a patient adopter, Mongoose will no doubt continue to blossom into a loyal and affectionate cat.
