My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Is there emptiness in your heart and home that I Ginger, a 6 year old special needs dog, could fill with joy and friendship? Talk about a win-win situation. I would win a home outside the shelter where I could feel confident and safe and you would have a dog that loves you unconditionally and has simple needs. I have been in the shelter for 6 months and would love to be in a happy environment with you!

I am a beautiful, pleasant, and healthy female 6 year old, terrier mix dog filled with love. I am a joy to be around despite having limited sight and being faintly deaf. I navigate the world with bravery, curiosity and since I sometimes walk into things I need a predictable home where things stay in place. I bump into things when I get apprehensive so a halo harness might help us.

I’m a gentle dog with a loving heart and a contagious smile. I thrive on the simple joys of life like being softly touched and being near my humans. I will be so thankful to find my calm, comfortable and caring home.

Fun for me is backyard play and short leash walks. Home is my happy place where I can lounge, decompress and feel free. Perhaps you`d like to foster me to see what life with a special needs dog would be like?

I am spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and potty trained. My eyes and ears are not as strong as other dogs but my heart sure is.

Ginger would love to spend quality time with you sitting in the sunshine, listening to music and the birds. Let`s meet up, just contact the loving staff at the Humane Society of Sedona at: 928.282.4679 any day of the week 10am-4pm; excluding major holidays.

More about this shelter

Our Vision - Be Our Heart & Voice
Building a caring community where every adoptable and treatable pet finds a life-long loving home.

Our Mission
The Humane Society of Sedona is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of pets in our community and beyond. The Society has served the Verde Valley since 1966.

The Linda and Allan Brecher Center for Animals at the society is designed to allow every person, who desires the love of a pet, to adopt and provide a forever loving home. The Center provides quality care and positive reinforcement behavior training for adoptable pets. Passionate volunteers help walk and socialize the pets in our care. Foster pet parents are an important part of caring for pets outside the Center.

The Society provides vital services for pets and people alike through income-based affordable spay/neuter surgeries and vaccination clinics. Also, for families in need to feed their pets, we have a Pet Food Program.

Another public resource is our adult and youth educational programs.

The Society relies on community support, contributions, grants, bequests, investments, proceeds from the Society’s thrift stores and some fees for service in order to save pets’ lives.
