My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Are you looking for a pretty, happy, and joyful girlfriend…well you found her in me, Aurora! I have been in the Sedona shelter for more than a year now cause it seems that folks like puppies more than us mature dogs. Well I hope you`ll come and meet me so that I can start a real life outside my kennel. It`s my turn!!

I am a beautiful, gentle, and playful 7-year-old golden retriever mix and I look younger than my real age. I love working out by the kiddie pool to keep up my good looks and I go bananas for a romp through the water hose. I enjoy running, playing fetch and having fun exploring.

I came to the shelter with my sister when our parent’s living situation changed, and we couldn’t stay together. I really miss them especially since my younger sister has already been adopted. I came here not feeling well but I am all better now and thankfully I am my former happy and playful self again. I am a gentle soul and easy walker although I sometimes become afraid of other dogs and bark at them. I remember enjoying walks alongside my humans and cuddles are super. I`d be my happiest sitting with a family watching television and enjoying a safe stable home environment again.

Did you notice my gorgeous and soulful brown eyes? There is a lot for you to discover with my personality, and I enjoy the presence of people of all ages. I am happy with being the only dog in your home so that I can have all your attention to myself.

If you`re looking for a loyal companion to fill your days with joy and happiness, please come by so we can learn more about each other. I would be your perfect date for car rides, walks in the red rocks and hanging out.

I am spayed, microchipped and current on my vaccines. I am house-trained and I am looking for my forever home with you!
Please contact my friends at the Humane Society of Sedona at: 928.282.4679 any day of the week 10am-4pm; excluding major holidays. I am here to tell you that rescued is an outstanding dog breed!

More about this shelter

Our Vision - Be Our Heart & Voice
Building a caring community where every adoptable and treatable pet finds a life-long loving home.

Our Mission
The Humane Society of Sedona is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of pets in our community and beyond. The Society has served the Verde Valley since 1966.

The Linda and Allan Brecher Center for Animals at the society is designed to allow every person, who desires the love of a pet, to adopt and provide a forever loving home. The Center provides quality care and positive reinforcement behavior training for adoptable pets. Passionate volunteers help walk and socialize the pets in our care. Foster pet parents are an important part of caring for pets outside the Center.

The Society provides vital services for pets and people alike through income-based affordable spay/neuter surgeries and vaccination clinics. Also, for families in need to feed their pets, we have a Pet Food Program.

Another public resource is our adult and youth educational programs.

The Society relies on community support, contributions, grants, bequests, investments, proceeds from the Society’s thrift stores and some fees for service in order to save pets’ lives.
