My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET  KAYA!

Kaya is a 2-year-old Husky mix who’s just beginning to discover how good life can be. After spending her early years isolated in a backyard with minimal interaction, she’s blossomed into a playful, curious, and affectionate companion who’s ready for adventure.

Kaya loves walks and is always up for tagging along on a hike or outing. She’s goofy and full of personality — the kind of dog who will make you smile every day. While she’s still learning how to interact with other dogs, she may do well with a calm, well-socialized dog of similar size. However, she should not live with cats.

She’s house trained, spayed, and knows some basic commands. Kaya is still gaining confidence with new people and situations, so she’ll do best in a home that offers structure, patience, and plenty of positive reinforcement.

Kaya Would Thrive In a Home With:
• An active lifestyle and lots of outdoor time
• A secure, fenced yard (6 ft required)
• No cats, and only one other calm dog (if any)
• A confident, experienced adopter who can guide her continued progress
• A calm environment to help her continue building trust

Kaya is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to find her people.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All potential adopters will be required to complete our Adoption Application, read and sign our Adopting Policies and Procedures, and participate in a home visit by one of our adoption representatives. Our Adoption Application is located on our website: www.underdogaz.com.

We also have a mandatory two-week Foster With Intent to Adopt trial period for all animals in order to be certain the pet is a good fit for your family.

Our standard adoption fee for dogs is $200; puppies are $250.

Non-standard fees do sometimes apply. Puppies younger than six months may have a higher fee. Designer dogs, purebreds, and other toy type breeds may also have higher adoption fees than the standard $200.

We do, however, have discounted fees for dogs that are seniors, a pair of dogs adopted together, or cats. If you are a veteran or an active duty service member, please ask about our partnership with Pets For Patriots.

All Underdog pets are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped prior to adoption.

We are a 501c3 non profit, your donations save lives and are 100% tax deductible.

Go meet their pets

We attend multiple adoption events throughout the valley during Spring and Fall.
If you are interested in a specific pet, please complete our adoption application found on our website and we can then coordinate a meet and greet.

More about this rescue

Underdog Rescue of Az is an all volunteer organization dedicated to the rescuing and re-homing of abandoned and/or abused dogs.

We are a foster-based rescue, and do not maintain a physical base of operations. All of our animals are placed with loving, caring safe foster families until they are adopted. We are also an "All Breed" rescue, and do not discriminate based on breed, age, size, etc.

Underdog's mission also includes educating the public on the issue of animal welfare. We strive to promote shelter reform, spay and neuter education and emergency rescue information & assistance.
