My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Luce — Your Loyal Girl and Couch Cuddle Champion

Luce isn’t just a 60-pound pittie beauty—she’s a survivor with a heart that still believes in love. Born in July 2020, she's past her puppy days but still delights in zoomies and backyard adventures, living fully in each moment she gets to be free and joyful. She’ll sniff out every inch of the yard, then curl up beside you as if to say, “This is all I need—just you and me.”

She’s incredibly affectionate with her people, both big and small, always nudging closer for connection. While she prefers to be the only dog—she doesn’t seek out conflict but won’t tolerate being pushed—what she truly craves is a calm, loving home where she doesn’t have to share the spotlight.

Luce is crate trained, spayed, microchipped, and current on all vaccinations. She walks okay on leash and has the confidence and spirit to thrive with someone who’s willing to invest in her continued growth through training and trust. She’s not a Velcro shadow, but she’ll be your steady, loyal presence—your soft landing at the end of a long day.

She’s looking for someone who sees beyond her breed, who understands the tenderness in those soulful eyes, and who believes that every dog deserves to be someone’s whole world.

Is your heart the home Luce has been waiting for?

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Adoption is a four part process.

Application: You will be required to submit general information along with personal and vet references.

Home visit: Potential adopters will receive a home visit by one of our members.

Meet -n- Greet: All family members (fur babies included) must meet the foster parent and pup they wish to adopt.

Here at Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, each adoption contribution is a flat rate per dog. We do not adjust this rate based on the "popularity" of a dog. We believe every dog is worthy of an owner that sees the value in them. Each adoption contribution is used to cover the expenses incurred for that dog and other dogs in our program.

Go meet their pets

Dirt Road Doggies Rescue, INC is located in the quaint town of Gillsville, in the foothills of the Georgia Mountains, just south of Gainesville. Our rescues are fostered in loving homes located in Hall, Jackson, and neighboring counties.

More about this rescue

We are a small canine rescue group located in Northeast Georgia that works tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, fully vet, and re-home faithful dogs that have been tossed out of cars onto rural roads. We are a registered, 501c3 tax deductible Non Profit Rescue and we are licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture

All dogs in our program have been previously reported to animal control to ensure they were not lost pups who had a family diligently looking for them. We do not turn a dog away due to breed, health concerns, or age. It is our goal to keep these dogs out of animal shelters, thus saving their lives and providing more time to the dogs already in shelters to find their forever family.
