Meet Ambrosia This 2-year-old, 49.2-pound APBT mix has a heart as soft as her name suggests. When Ambrosia first arrived at the shelter, she was absolutely terrified—curled up in a corner, shaking and frozen in fear. But even then, she showed us just how special she is: never once reactive, always allowing staff to handle her gently with quiet trust.
Ambrosia is still learning the world is a safe place. Out in the yard, she’s hesitant but curious, sticking close to the people she trusts. If you sit down, she’ll waste no time curling right up in your lap, hoping for a little comfort and connection.
She’s incredibly sweet and shows us glimpses every day of the happy, loving dog she wants to be. Ambrosia is looking for a calm, patient home that will give her the time and space to come out of her shell at her own pace.

Our adoption fee is $150.00 for dogs, $75 for kittens under 6 months of age and $50 for all cats 6 months and older. This will include a rabies vaccination (if age appropriate), spay or neuter, a microchip with registration, and all other age appropriate vaccinations.

We are the all admittance shelter in Johnson County, we are not a 501c3, but a county run facility. We try our best to place each and every animal. We also house all animals picked up by Animal Control therefore; we intake a high volume of animals each year.
