Meet Cruiser! Cruiser is an 8-year-old, 72.8-pound APBT mix who found himself at the shelter through no fault of his own. This laid-back gentleman is housetrained, crate trained, and was said to do well with both kids and other dogs in his previous home.
Right now, Cruiser is a bit nervous in the shelter environment—it’s a big change for a sweet, mellow guy like him. He allows handling from staff and is slowly starting to settle in. Out in the play yards, he begins to relax and show glimpses of his soft, loving personality.
Cruiser may be quiet and unsure right now, but we can already tell there’s a big-hearted dog waiting to shine. He’s looking for a calm, patient home where he can feel safe, loved, and finally show the world who he really is.

We are the all admittance shelter in Johnson County, we are not a 501c3, but a county run facility. We try our best to place each and every animal. We also house all animals picked up by Animal Control therefore; we intake a high volume of animals each year.
