My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JoJo (short for Joan) is a 5-year-old Terrier/Pit Bull mix with a heart full of love and a story of resilience. At 44 pounds, she’s the perfect medium-sized companion who will follow you from room to room just to be near you. She's incredibly sweet, loves cuddles, and while she isn’t much into toys, she lights up when she gets to run around and play.

JoJo gets along great with other dogs and she’s been calm and affectionate around our 6-month-old baby. She’s house-trained, walks well on a leash, and is picking up on basic directions quickly—she’s smart and eager to please.

She sleeps soundly outside of a kennel at night, but we did kennel her when we left the house, as she’s shown a bit of separation anxiety. It’s clear she forms strong bonds and just wants to be with her people as much as possible—understandable, given that she was heartbreakingly found abandoned in a trash can. But despite her rough past, she’s resilient, loving, and ready for a fresh start.

JoJo is now thriving in foster care and ready to find the loving forever home she deserves. If you're looking for a loyal, affectionate, and low-key playful companion, JoJo might just be your perfect match. Come meet her—you’ll fall in love in minutes.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Found an animal on our site and want to meet them or find out more about them? Fill out the adoption questionnaire located below and submit to us. Once we have reviewed/approved your application, we will provide you with the foster contact information so that you can find out more and arrange a “meet and greet”. All of our animals are located in foster homes throughout the Triangle area.

When going to a “meet and greet”, please make sure you take any family members and other pets (if at all possible) to observe their interactions. This can make introduction into the new home easier for the animals and for you.

The animal’s foster parent will ultimately make a recommendation to the organization regarding the permanent placement of the animal. Once an adoption decision has been made by both parties, we ask for an adoption fee to help us cover spay/neutering, shots, medical treatment, food and supplies – this amount only partially cover the cost of expenses and allows us to help as many animals as possible!

What if the adoption doesn’t work out? We have a lifetime return policy on our animals as we don’t want to see them turned back into a shelter.
