HI - I'M PHOENIX! I'm a handsome, healthy and rugged 10-year-old Rottie mix in need of a foster or forever home. I lost my previous foster home due to no fault of mine, and I really miss having people around to snuggle in the evenings.
A little bit about me: I was rescued from a shelter a couple years ago, where I was a shelter favorite, and am currently waiting for someone to adopt me. I weigh about 80 lbs. Despite my age, I am active and I'm a very loving dog. I'll do well with an active person or people who can take me for walks and hikes.
I have MANY positive traits - I am affectionate (I love to give hugs once I know you!), I walk well on a leash, and I am a very loyal and sweet dog. I will be your best friend for life. I also prefer to have my person or people around, but that can be expected of most dogs! I am not a barker unless it is warranted.
I can also be a bit protective of my people and our property, which can be a good thing. While I get along with some dogs (especially females), I can be reactive on a leash. I would thrive as an only dog, or at least as an only male dog, as I love human attention and affection and I'd do well with a strong owner, too. I weigh about 80 lbs. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue organization based in Southern California, but we adopt dogs to people in states across the country. In 2024, we adopted almost 200 animals to people in California, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Texas and New York. Most of the animals we save come from high-kill shelters in California, but we also take in owner surrenders.
