My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for a gentle and good-natured senior? Meet Chive, a handsome and cheerful German Shepherd who has been looking for a forever home since February. He's calm, smart, devoted, and very sweet with people, including his foster mom's grandkids whenever they come over for a visit. Chive has lived peacefully with other dogs, ignores cats when he visits other homes, and does well with dog-savvy young kids. According to his foster mom, he's an amazing and easy houseguest who shows no sign of separation anxiety or resource guarding. He loves quiet walks and car rides and is treat-motivated and eager to please. All this gentle fellow needs is a calm, peaceful home where he can comfortably live out his golden years.

Chive is 9 years old and weighs around 80 lbs.

Please e-mail adopt@yoloshelter.org or call/text his foster mom (530-312-5724) to meet Chive in Woodland or Davis.

All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

*The shelter is currently open for adoptions by appointment only. Please email us at adoptycas@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting.
For other shelter services, please call us at (530) 668-5287*

To adopt you must have a photo ID and proof of your current address. If not on your ID then bring in a bill with your name and your current address. If you rent you must provide a lease clearly stating the pet policy or provide a name and phone number for your landlord so that we may confirm the pet policy. If you own your home you may provide a mortgage statement or property tax bill for proof.

You must be 18 years or older to adopt.

If you wish to adopt a dog and have other dog(s) at home, please bring them with you to the shelter so that they may meet. Even if your dog is wonderful with other dogs, many of the dogs at the shelter have come in as strays so we have no history on them and need to be sure they get along with your pet(s).

If you have any other questions, please go to www.yolocountysheriff.com or call the shelter for more information.
