My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This handsome 3-year-old neutered German Shepherd named Kenny arrived at the shelter in August and is still hopeful you’ll come visit him!

Kenny scored a day trip with one of our volunteers and it turns out he’s an awesome hiking and running buddy. He would make a fun companion for someone who likes to go on walks, run the trails, or enjoys exploring nature. While he still has some playful energy, he’s good at keeping himself entertained with a toy/ball, or settling down in a crate for quiet time.

Kenny appears to be non-reactive toward other dogs but he may want to play with them. He did well with the volunteer’s dogs, though we always recommend slow introductions with any newly adopted pet and existing family pet(s). He also has potential to coexist with a cat with proper introductions.

If you have a dog and would like to check compatibility with Kenny, bring your dog for a dog-to-dog introduction at our shelter. Come meet Kenny today! He’s been waiting a long time for the forever home he deserves.

All animals are up-to-date on vaccinations (including rabies if over 4 months old), microchipped, and spayed or neutered. All dogs have been been vaccinated with DHPP and Bordatella (kennel cough) and heartworm tested negative (if over 6 months).    All cats have been vaccinated with FVRCP and current on flea control. Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

*The shelter is currently open for adoptions by appointment only. Please email us at adoptycas@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting.
For other shelter services, please call us at (530) 668-5287*

To adopt you must have a photo ID and proof of your current address. If not on your ID then bring in a bill with your name and your current address. If you rent you must provide a lease clearly stating the pet policy or provide a name and phone number for your landlord so that we may confirm the pet policy. If you own your home you may provide a mortgage statement or property tax bill for proof.

You must be 18 years or older to adopt.

If you wish to adopt a dog and have other dog(s) at home, please bring them with you to the shelter so that they may meet. Even if your dog is wonderful with other dogs, many of the dogs at the shelter have come in as strays so we have no history on them and need to be sure they get along with your pet(s).

If you have any other questions, please go to www.yolocountysheriff.com or call the shelter for more information.
