My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dexter!
Dex is one of those dogs that grabs your attention right away! He is super handsome, very smart and very loving.
He’s the type of dog that wants to be your companion. He loves to snuggle, nuzzle, play, hang out with other dogs and also respectful to cats.
Dex would love for his human/humans to have a yard to run in, go on adventures, have a buddy to run around with but also plenty of chill time.
He is very proud of the commands that he has learned such as sit, down, leave it, paw, stay and wait 😃👏
Dex is potty trained, crate trained and knows how to use a doggie door.
If you are interested in meeting Dex, please fill out our online adoption application at k9newlife.org under “Dogs for Adoption”
*All of our dogs are in individual foster homes and require an appointment for meet and greets!
*Check out his video on our FB page!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our goal is to find loving, lifelong homes for our dogs.

We require an adoption application, a home inspection, and $250 adoption donation. This helps pay for medical care, dog food, and supplies.

To ensure we find the best homes for dogs in our care, our adoption process involves several steps. Adopting a dog requires a commitment of love and responsibility for the welfare of the animal, just as you would have for a human member of your family. Please consider the challenges that come with owning a dog as these challenges are often the reason many pets end up in shelters.

1. Complete our online adoption application: http://www.k9newlife.org/adoption-application.html

2. Once your application has been reviewed, we will contact you.

3. A home check is done to ensure the dog will live in a suitable environment.

4. A meet and greet will be arranged for the adopter and the dog(s) of interest.

5. An adoption contract must be completed to finalize the adoption process.

Prior to adoption, all of our dogs receive a general veterinary checkup, vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test (treatment, if necessary), heart worm/flea/tick prevention, and spay/neuter.

More about this rescue

K-9 New Life is an all breed, no-kill dog rescue organization located in southeast Virginia. We are registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

The mission of K-9 New Life is to take in dogs from shelters when they have run out of time or are injured or too sick for the shelters to handle. We provide them with health care, rehabilitation, training, and a loving foster home until they can be adopted. Our focus is to give these less fortunate dogs a second chance to live the life they deserve.
