My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Skylar!
Skylar is a very unique looking and beautiful girl. We really don’t know her breed but she’s flat out adorable!
We are guessing on her age but she is still puppyish and goofy. We would say she is around 16 months old.
She is currently in a foster home with 4 other dogs and she does fantastic with all of them.
Skylar does well overall in the house but will take over your couch and your bed if you let her. She will occasionally countersurf so she needs some work there 😜 Honestly she could use a little structure!
She just adores her humans and gives stellar snuggles, even to other dogs if they like a close buddy!
She enjoys playing in the yard, loves her toys, a nice car ride and is a great blend of active and chill.
Skylar is up to date on her shots and microchipped.
She has not met a cat yet so that is unknown.
We think Skylar would love an active home with lots of playtime and adventures.
* If you are interested in meeting Skylar, please go to our website at k9newlife.org and fill out our online adoption application. All of our dogs are in individual foster homes so we will arrange a meet and greet for you.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our goal is to find loving, lifelong homes for our dogs.

We require an adoption application, a home inspection, and $250 adoption donation. This helps pay for medical care, dog food, and supplies.

To ensure we find the best homes for dogs in our care, our adoption process involves several steps. Adopting a dog requires a commitment of love and responsibility for the welfare of the animal, just as you would have for a human member of your family. Please consider the challenges that come with owning a dog as these challenges are often the reason many pets end up in shelters.

1. Complete our online adoption application: http://www.k9newlife.org/adoption-application.html

2. Once your application has been reviewed, we will contact you.

3. A home check is done to ensure the dog will live in a suitable environment.

4. A meet and greet will be arranged for the adopter and the dog(s) of interest.

5. An adoption contract must be completed to finalize the adoption process.

Prior to adoption, all of our dogs receive a general veterinary checkup, vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test (treatment, if necessary), heart worm/flea/tick prevention, and spay/neuter.

More about this rescue

K-9 New Life is an all breed, no-kill dog rescue organization located in southeast Virginia. We are registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

The mission of K-9 New Life is to take in dogs from shelters when they have run out of time or are injured or too sick for the shelters to handle. Our focus is to give these less fortunate dogs a second chance to live the life they deserve.
