My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Princess!

She is a 1 year old Terrier mix who weighs about 35 pounds. Princess is a sensitive girl who likes to take her time getting to know new people and will take a bit of time adjusting to her new home. Once she knows you she is a total sweetheart who loves to snuggle up in your lap. She is nervous in new places, so she loves having someone by her side to make her feel comfortable.

She is nervous with new dogs, so she would need a slow introduction if she were to live in a home with another dog. Princess does not show potential to live with cats in her forever home. Due to her sensitive nature, if there are kids in her forever home, they should be ages 13-16 and older.

Princess is a petite sweetheart who will give you more love than you know what to do with! Stop in today to meet this beautiful little pup.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
