Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bella Wella was an owner surrender due to the landlord saying that she had to go. So they dropped her off at the New York Animal Care Centers - the NYC municipal shelter. The shelter was overcrowded and Bella didn't have much time.
A very special person stepped up to save her life and foster her. She is now looking for her forever home.
These are BELLA WELLA'S STATS:
Approximate age Estimated 3 years by shelter, but I estimated 1-2 years based on very puppy like behavior
Approximate weight 40lbs
Breed (s) Pitbull Mix
Spayed or neutered? Yes, Spayed
Good with:
kids? Over 13 years . Bella's previous owner states that she lived with kids.
strangers? Yes
other dogs? Seems fine with large dogs but reactive to small dogs / wants to chase (potentially prey drive but not sure)
cats? No
On leash? Pulls hard due to prey drive
Housetrained? Yes
Crate trained? Yes
Paper trained? No
Bella Wella would thrive with an experienced owner that can manage her prey drive and give her a job. She is very much a working dog and finds great stimulation in doing a job. A home with a fenced in back yard that cannot be escaped would be a plus. Currently, in the city, her job is looking for rats and other critters which provides a lot of mental exercise for her. However, she is very intelligent and would love to help with any tasks.
Bella likes to howl like a husky when excited. Is a big napper and couch potato when properly stimulated and likes to sleep close (or sometimes on top) of her humans.
Bella has some dog reactivity towards smaller dogs
Heavy leash pulling due to her prey drive. Can be hard to control as she quickly gets overstimulated and stops listening at that point and it’s difficult to break focus.
Bella loves Loves daily walks and exploring the neighborhood. She enjoys mental stimulation and puzzle toys. She's a big napper once exercise and walk time is over and great on car rides (but wants to be a passenger princess)
