My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Piper, a delightful dog with a heart full of joy. Piper's sweet and friendly nature makes her the perfect companion. She's curious about the world, always ready to explore with a wagging tail. Her funny antics will keep you entertained, and her intelligence means she's a quick learner, eager to please. Piper loves to play, but she's just as happy cuddling up for a quiet evening.

Here is what Piper's foster family has to say about her:

> She is a social butterfly with people: She can't help but say "hi" to the humans passing her by.
> She will be your own personal clock for mealtime, potty time, and bedtime.
> Makes the best work-from-home companion and can be left for a few hours alone once she has gotten into a routine.
> Her training with walking past other dogs calmly is going well with the help of space, treats, and working with an Animal Kind trainer.

Piper is looking for:

> A home with older children, as her bursts of energy are too much for a small child.
> A family that can manage her nail condition (onychodystrophy) with special food, supplements, and regular nail trims with the vet.
> A home with a yard and someone who lives in a dog-quiet area. Piper can bark and lunge towards other dogs on walks, so an option for potty breaks in a private area would be ideal, and walking routes that are quiet are what she enjoys.

If you're ready for a loving family member who will steal your heart, Piper can't wait to meet you. Submit an online application at adopt.spca.bc.ca, and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set up a visit!

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

    Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

    Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

    Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

    1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

    2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

    3. Freedom from distress

    4. Freedom from discomfort

    5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
