Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/application
Please do not call the shelter; do the application first.
Meet Troy, a fun and energetic 1 year old housetrained 47# Australian Cattle Dog/German Shepherd mix (pretty close to 50/50 according to a DNA breed test one of our volunteers got for him).
The Polite Gentleman with a Playful Soul
Troy is the kind of dog who makes an unforgettable first impression. He might greet you with an enthusiastic hop, but he does it with such charm and gentle joy that you’ll find yourself laughing instead of correcting him. He’s just that kind of guy: pure heart, no ego, and full of love.
As soon as Troy steps outside, he treats you to a full-body stretch like he’s greeting the sun. Then he’s off to explore, tail wagging, and curiosity fully engaged. He’s a natural sidekick, loyal, attentive, and happiest right next to you. He’ll come when called, play a quick round of fetch, and lean into you for a good back rub when it’s time to wind down.
Troy is house trained, calm indoors, and always ready for whatever kind of day you have in mind, whether it’s a walk, a road trip, or just lounging around. He’s social adaptable, and makes new environments feel like home with his confident, easygoing, presence.
He’s the perfect fit for someone looking for a dog that brings both energy and ease. Troy would thrive in a home where he gets regular outdoor time, plenty of affection, and a human (or family!) who’s as loyal as he is.
Troy adores children and really enjoys the company of other dogs. He plays with abandon and is learning to chase after the toy during fetch - bringing it back, not so much yet, but he'll get there!
We think Troy might make a fine agility dog, he has the smarts and the energy to spare. He's a very attentive and responsive boy, and has that velcro-dog personality that keeps him at your side as long as you give him attention.
He does seem to have a strong focus on small furries and poultry, so would recommend extreme caution if you want to try him with cats or chickens.
Ready to meet your new best friend? Troy’s been patiently waiting to stretch out in the sunshine with you!
All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Troy is a suggested minimum of $150 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts.
Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!
