My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Is there such a thing as a Heagle? Part hound and lots beagle? And can we just add on and make it a "Cute-heagle? Here at Saving Grace we have decided to coin the name and make Phyllis the
picture to go next to the new lingo. Phyllis is an adorable tricolored Heagle who weighs about 20 lbs now and is full grown. She is such a sweet gal, always a friend to other dogs and sugary as pie with volunteers. She has not
yet spoke the language of her people much but does love to roam around and take in all the sights and smells. Don't let her smaller size fool you, Phyllis is a very active girl who can keep up with all of the big dogs without issue at all. Phyllis would be a great companion in most homes, though may do better with older children and will prove why we so love both hounds and beagles at Saving Grace and how much better can it get than a combo of both?!?
Weekend Host Feedback: "We've been having a blast with Phyllis. She is a dream with everyone. Loves all dogs, loves children ( cats unknown)
She is house trained, a schedule helps her stay on track. She settles down quickly in a crate but would much rather stay with her people. Phyllis tolerated our busy home with 3 other dogs well seeming to enjoy all the commotion. Did ok with car ride and quick swim in our pool. Loves a fenced yard to run around in.
She loves snuggles most after she wears herself out on a long walk and will curl up in a ball next to you. She also can self entertain with squeaky toys for long periods."
** Hiking feedback: " She’s a great hiking buddy! As you would expect, her nose is to the ground, but she keeps a great pace and enjoys the sights too. She loves water of all kinds - no puddle is too small to wade through and enjoy. She gets along well with other dogs and people".
**Additional feedback: "She walked great on the leash and made brief stops if there was something interesting to sniff. With a gentle nudge, we were back on the trail with the pack. She enjoyed walking in the water at the lake and took time to socialize with the other hikers and pups on breaks. On the last break, she took her time rolling in the grass with all for legs in the air and enjoyed belly rubs!  She definitely had a great time on the hike".

Additional adoption info

All puppies and dogs at Saving Grace are crate trained, have been spayed/neutered, are up to date on their vaccines, are on heartworm preventative and have been microchipped. Their adoption fee is $350.00. Each has been carefully screened for disposition and temperament in order to provide your home with a safe companion that will enjoy life as your new family member.

If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please complete an Adoption Application at our website: savinggracenc.org

Sending an Application does not commit you to an adoption, it simply provides us with background information on potential homes. Please review our Adoption Contract before sending an Application to ensure that you will be able to provide the requirements stated in the contract. The Contract must be signed at the time of adoption.

Saving Grace is a small, non-profit 501-C3 organization operated by volunteers only. Most of our animals come from rural animal control shelters where lack of space and resources limit their time and adoption possibilities. Thank you for choosing Saving Grace! We look forward to helping you find your new companion and family member.

More about this rescue

Located in central North Carolina and officially established in 2004, Saving Grace has placed over 15,000 dogs into homes since its inception. These dogs were from rural animal control facilities with little resources and who would otherwise not had the opportunity to receive necessary veterinary care and a chance at adoption. While we have grown significantly over the years and have been successful growing our numbers we still see many great dogs miss the opportunity of adoption.

We have a large variety of dogs varying in breed, size, shape, age and needs and would love to work with you to find you a great dog companion while providing a dog in need with a loving home. Our dogs are chosen based on temperament and socialization. We get some of the most charming, unique mix breeds as well as some striking purebreds. Our dogs come from rural, underserved areas and while they may have little experience as an indoor family member, they have the temperament and personality that is sure to bring much love and appreciation to their new home. Most have started their crate training while in our program. Veterinary care including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, vaccinations, monthly preventatives are provided prior to each adoption. If you would like more information about adopting one of our dogs, please email savinggrace@savinggracenc.org
