My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Roxie: A Tale of Resilience and Hope
Roxie's Heartbreaking Journey
Imagine being cherished from the moment you were born, showered with love and affection, only to have your world turned upside down when your beloved caretaker suddenly passes away. This is the story of Roxie, a sweet 6-year-old "chiweenie"—a charming mix of Chihuahua and Dachshund—who found herself abandoned in a bustling city shelter. The shelter was overcrowded, filled with chaos, and lacked the compassion that every dog deserves.
Roxie was thrust into a world of unfamiliar faces, crammed into a cage with too many other dogs. The shelter was so burdened that she was forced to live in unimaginably unsanitary conditions, with no choice but to defecate in the very space she ate and slept. Her once comfortable life was reduced to cold, wet concrete floors, no blanket or bed in sight.
A Turn for the Better
But then, a miracle occurred. A rescue organization noticed Roxie's plight and stepped in to transform her life. From the moment she realized someone was speaking to her, Roxie began to shine. She became the friendly, loving dog she had always been, eager to show the world her true self.
Roxie proved to be dog-friendly, adored children, and demonstrated that she was housetrained and familiar with a doggie door. She knew the comfort of a crate and would retreat for a nap if things became too hectic. Roxie was even pretty good on a leash and looked forward to her daily walks.
Roxie's New Beginning
All of this could have been overlooked if not for the right person coming along at just the right time. Roxie's story is one of resilience and hope—a testament to the transformative power of love and care.
Now, Roxie is healthy and ready for a fresh start. Weighing in at 17 pounds, she is vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed. Roxie is heartworm negative and on preventative medication, ensuring her continued good health.
