Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Okay Hoss — a high-octane bundle of joy who never runs out of energy
Hoss is always on the move and lives for playtime. Toys are his absolute passion, and he’s happiest when he’s running, chasing, tugging, or showing off just how fast and fun he can be. If you’re looking for a dog who will keep you active and entertained, Hoss is ready to clock in.
Despite all that, he’s housebroken and knows how to settle indoors after a good workout. He’ll do best in a home without young children, where he can burn off his energy and enjoy a structured, active routine that matches his go-go-go personality.
Hoss is perfect for an experienced, energetic adopter who wants a lively companion and a constant source of fun. If you’ve got the energy, he’s got even more.
If you are interested in adopting, please visit the shelter during adoption hours. Be sure to let the front desk know the name of the dog you are interested in visiting. Once you have met with the dog and an application has been approved, we will then ask to complete a meet and greets with any dog(s) that are currently living in the home or visit frequently.
Our adoption hours are as follows:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 12pm-5:30pm
Thursday: 2:30pm-5pm
Saturday & Sunday: 12pm-4:30pm

More about this shelter
For over a century, the Humane Society of Scott County has been a cornerstone of our community, making it a better place for both people and pets. While our mission has evolved to meet changing needs, one thing has remained constant—we are unwavering advocates for those who cannot help themselves.
As the only open-intake shelter in Scott County, we are a lifeline for animals with nowhere else to go—regardless of age, health, breed, or behavior. Without us, lost, abandoned, and at-risk pets would have no safe haven. But our work goes beyond sheltering animals—we are deeply committed to helping the people. Being a resource to pet owners allows us to do what’s best for animals and their people too.
That’s why we provide essential resources to help keep pets in the homes that love them. From low-cost vaccine and microchip clinics to our free pet food pantry, we’re here to support both animals and the people who care for them. Because at the Humane Society of Scott County, we believe that when pets and people thrive together, the entire community benefits.
