My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bailey is a handsome dark brown lab mix pup whose estimated DOB is 11/12/2024 and on 7/11/2025 he weighed in at 38 pounds. Bailey was found as a stray and has not had much human interaction before coming to our shelter. This has resulted in him being quite timid with new people. You may need to visit Bailey more than once to give him time to warm up to you before taking him home. Once he warms up, he is sweet and loves to be petted. We are working on his socialization, b and the best thing for Bailey would be a forever home full of love and patience.
Come meet Bailey and start getting to know him today!

Our adoption fee is $125 for small breed dogs under 20 pounds and $100 for all other dogs and cats unless otherwise noted in their bio. Every pet available for adoption is current on shots spayed/neutered, and microchipped. You may submit an application online for pre-approval and to set an appointment or you can visit the shelter Wednesday - Sunday from 11am - 5pm. Please note that the kennels close for pet viewing at 4:30pm.

More about this shelter

The mission of the Humane Society of Pulaski County is to rescue, care for and find homes for abandoned, abused, homeless and unwanted animals; to reduce suffering of animals; and to reduce the number of homeless animals through adoption, spay/neuter, and through education.

The Humane Society of Pulaski County provides access to low-cost, healthy, inoculated, sterilized animals to people seeking to adopt animals as pets only. Adopters are screened to see if they can provide the basics of care for the animals, proper housing, and continued veterinary maintenance; and have no history of animal abuse or irresponsible ownership.

The Humane Society is a private no-kill shelter, supported solely by donations, fund-raisers, bequests and grants. We receive no city, county or state funding, nor are we affiliated with any other organization. We have been rescuing animals since 1946, and have been in our present building since 2000.
