My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Scorpion!

He is a 1.5 year old Pit Bull mix who weighs about 51 pounds. Scorpion is a bubbly and gregarious boy who has boundless energy! He is a young boy who loves to run around and play, go on long walks, and snuggle up in your lap. He`s a typical young male dog who is always ready to go on an adventure or have a rough and rowdy play session.

Scorpion shows potential with other dogs, but he is still learning some manners, so he would need a slow introduction to new dogs and would prefer a dog that he can wrestle and play with. Scorpion has a history of chasing stray cats so he would not be able to live with a cat in his forever home.

Since he can be a wild man, he would do best with kids ages 13 and older who can manage his excitability. It won`t take long until Scorpion shows you what an adorable and snuggly pup he is.

Scorpion can`t wait for someone to walk through the door and give him a forever home!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
