My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Milo – a 70-pound loaf of love with four legs and a heart that could power a small village. His vet says he’s prime family dog material, and honestly, we think he might be part teddy bear. Milo lives for affection. His ideal home? One where he can soak up all the love like a big, fuzzy sponge. He’s the kind of guy who waits in his bed like a gentleman until his humans are ready to start the day (no early wake-up calls from this guy!). He’s totally cool being on his own, whether inside or out, but don’t be fooled—he’s always up for a good walk or a nature hike to show off his majestic strut. Milo would probably thrive as the only dog (more cuddles for him!), but he might be open to a chill, respectful large dog roommate too. If you're looking for a snuggle pro with a heart of gold and the lounging skills of a pro napper, Milo’s your guy. Additional adoption info

If we are adopting out a dog who has been trained the adopter must agree to one training session the day they adopt the dog (coming home). If we decide additional training sessions will be needed we will advise the adopter prior to adoption.

More about this rescue

We are a veteran-run dog rescue based in San Diego, California. Our goal is to change the rescue world. We adopt our dogs to any loving and qualified homes, but we also provide ESAs for military veterans. With The Heroic Tail’s model, we are not only able to rescue dogs from high-kill shelters who happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, but we are also able to help the dogs deemed “unadoptable” and give them a better chance at a happy and healthy life!
