Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet El Roy: A Handsome Cuddlebug Looking for a Forever Home!
1.5 year old, 76lb El Roy found himself at the shelter in December of 2024 after his owner left him at the vet. He was understandably very nervous in the shelter environment, though immediately very gentle and endearing. Volunteers quickly discovered that El Roy was motivated by treats, which helped him warm up to people, begin to make friends, and start asking for pets and attention. He started getting out into play groups with other dogs and was always described as soft and gentle, yet still social and playful with other dogs. In March of 2025, one of our own Dog Coalition LA team members decided to take El Roy as a foster.
In foster, El Roy is his usual sweet and social self with his 3 foster siblings, always playful when appropriate and respectful when the other dogs don’t want to play. His foster human has helped him become excellent on leash, as well as master house and crate training. He loves to ride in the car and tag along for adventures. We believe him to be a pit bull staffordshire mix.
El Roy is looking for someone that will continue his training to help him get over some of his puppy-like insecurities. We believe he would do wonderfully in a home with other dogs and/or children, though he could also be a great solo companion. We hope his adopters will be open to learning how to guide him so that he can continue his good habits in a forever home!
What You Should Know About El Roy:
- A gentle young fella looking for the perfect home to provide guidance and structure.
- Sweet and playful with other dogs of all sizes.
- Could be a wonderful adventure companion with proper guidance and in low-stress situations. Excellent leash skills and the most soulful eyes!

More about this rescue
We are a group of volunteers and rescuers combining our skills to help fosters get a dog out of the shelter! The dogs in our program have begun house, crate, and leash training. Our fosters follow a handful of house rules. The transition to a new home is easiest for your dog when these structures are carried over for some time and privileges are gradually introduced. This helps minimize anxiety and behavioral issues.
