Grey is a friendly and gentle young kitty about 9 months old, who loves to have attention and spend time with people once he knows them. He is still scared from being outside on his own. He gets along with other cats or would be happy as your only furry friend.
Grey has tested positive for FIV, also known at kitty Aids. Just like with people it is NOT contagious through casual contact. It's safe to share food, water, and litter box with a negative cat. FIV is only passed by a deep bite wound, where saliva from the positive cat enters the blood stream of another kitty. This is very rare in socialized house cats.
FIV cats can have a shorter life span in part due to the fact that with a compromised immune system they are more prone to contracting infections. FIV positive cats must live strictly indoors to reduce the chances of contracting something dangerous. It is NOT a death sentence! FIV positive cats can live well into their teens and have a very normal life.
