My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

River (Ryan) is in New England and is available for meet and greets with approved applicants!

Meet River( Ryan) a 9-month-old handsome pup who is curious, super smart, and ready to love and be loved.
His journey from abandonment to health tells a story of courage and resiliency. Once found with his ribs showing, frightened and uncertain, he has transformed with care and kindness into a dog who is learning to trust and gives back with affection, playfulness, and being a happy companion on walks, hikes, a game of ball, or anything outdoors with his person. His days are now filled with discovery and is eager and quick to learn. He has mastered many commands such as "sit", "down", "wait", "look" and "this way" to redirect on walks. His release cue is "okay"! He is house trained and fully potty trained, and he carries himself with proud and eager puppy energy.

River (Ryan) bonded deeply with his foster mom and is great with other women coming in and out of the house.
Having endured hardship at the hands of men early in life, he finds comfort and calm in feminine presence and is wary of men. If you are seeking a steadfast male companion who has the capacity to bond fiercely and tenderly, River
(Ryan) might be your guy.

River (Ryan) sleeps very well in the crate at night but does have some anxiety about it during the day. He is not a fan of car rides and tends to get car sick. He can be all puppy at times and needs gentle and kind corrections at those times to guide his training. A calm nurturing home with a fenced-in yard would help him thrive. He'll need continued training, patience, and reassurance in his days ahead as he builds trust with his person in his new forever home where he will be cherished, protected, and loved for life. He will grow into the best companion you could ever want.

More about this rescue

A Lab for Life (ALL) provides a compassionate life-line to abandoned dogs that includes a safe haven, medical care by a licensed veterinarian, nutrition (food) and a fur-ever family through adoption. ALL promotes the humane treatment of animals in the community.

ALL was founded in July 2020 by a group of dog advocates in central Oklahoma and
Northeastern US after some had been volunteering with an out of state rescue for over 5 years. That experience solidified a local organization was needed. ALL formed to rescue as many stray, homeless and owner surrendered dogs as possible by partnering with many state-wide shelters and rescue operations. In addition to transferring homeless dogs from the shelters, fostering them in temporary homes and adopting them out, we also provide behavioral and medical resources to people who are considering surrendering their dog in an effort to keep the dog in their homes and out of the shelter/rescue system.
ALL operates under the 5 freedoms for animal welfare.
We are a brand new organization and welcome donations!
