My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

🐾 Meet Jacob – Your Adventure Buddy in the Making
2 Years Old · 43 lbs · Male · Pit Bull Terrier Mix
Jacob is a young, spirited pup with a heart as big as his smile. After spending time living outdoors, he’s now thriving in a foster home, where he’s learning just how wonderful life inside a loving home can be.
Jacob is playful, social, and full of energy. He enjoys playgroups at the shelter and loves wrestling and rolling around with his dog friends. In foster care, he’s living with another dog, while his foster brother is older and less playful, Jacob would likely thrive in a home with a canine companion who matches his energy and play style.
Jacob is crate-trained, quiet, and reliable in his foster home, making him an easygoing addition to a family. He walks well on a leash with a harness and enjoys walks, hikes, and runs. He is a fast learner and has been practicing commands like “sit,” “touch,” and “here.” Highly treat-motivated, he would thrive in a home that enjoys training and teaching fun tricks.
Jacob adores people and greets everyone with enthusiasm.
What you should know about Jacob:
✔️ Perfect in his crate – quiet and accident-free
✔️ Walks well on a harness and loves hikes, walks, and runs
✔️ Great in playgroups and enjoys wrestling with other playful dogs
✔️ Treat-motivated and a fast learner (knows “sit,” “touch,” and “here”)
✔️ Loves people and settles happily with toys or cuddles after playtime
✨ Best suited for a home with adults or older children who can match/handle his enthusiasm
Jacob is a dog with a real zest for life, ready to bring joy, adventure, and love into your home.
Jacob is currently in foster care — call to schedule a meet & greet today!

More about this shelter

In 1987, an initial attempt was made to organize a local humane society in Caroline County. While this attempt did not succeed, those same dedicated volunteers were not deterred.

From our humble beginnings 30 years ago, to where we are today, we are proud to be called “the little shelter that could”.

We provide service to our community through pet adoption, Rabies Clinics, Trap-Neuter-Return, Pet Pantry, Pet Lost & Found, Re-homing, Intake Diversion, Cremation
