Here's what the humans have to say about me:
☠️ Captain Davey – The Brindle Buccaneer 🏴☠️
4 years old · Pit Bull Terrier · Approx. 70 lbs · Neutered Male
Ahoy there, matey! I be Captain Davey, a brindle lad of fine spirit and stout heart, once tossed upon stormy seas and now seekin’ a new vessel to call me own. Life’s voyage has left me a bit wary of big dogs and loud menfolk, but show me kindness and a calm hand, and I’ll be waggin’ me tail before the tide changes.
A lover of open decks or backyards as you landlubbers call them, I find me joy in the chase, fetchin’ me tennis ball like it be prized treasure, runnin’ free, and soakin’ up the wind in me fur. I’m a strong sailor on the leash, aye, but with a steady captain at the helm, I’ll take correction and follow your lead true enough.
When the sun sets and the sea stills, I’m calm as a quiet harbor, happy to rest by your side, soakin’ up scritches and the peace of the evenin’. Offer me a good back or rump scratch, and I’ll wiggle and sway like the jolliest of sailors.
I’ve no great love for soft toys, but give me a hard one and I’ll be content for hours. I know a few basic commands, sit comes easy, though I’m not one to be bribed by every treat you wave my way. I’ll earn me respect the honest way, through time and trust.
When I climb aboard your carriage, I’ll be ready for adventure, though I might try for the front seat, for the Captain deserves the best view of the horizon.
So, if ye seek a kind-hearted buccaneer to share your journeys, one part energy, one part muscle, and all heart, come meet Captain Davey and see if fate means for us to sail together.

More about this shelter
In 1987, an initial attempt was made to organize a local humane society in Caroline County. While this attempt did not succeed, those same dedicated volunteers were not deterred.
From our humble beginnings 30 years ago, to where we are today, we are proud to be called “the little shelter that could”.
We provide service to our community through pet adoption, Rabies Clinics, Trap-Neuter-Return, Pet Pantry, Pet Lost & Found, Re-homing, Intake Diversion, Cremation
