Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Nellie’s story hasn’t been an easy one, but her spirit shines brighter than ever.
Found as a pregnant stray on the streets of Texas, this gentle girl was taken in by a kind man who helped her bring her puppies safely into the world. Since then, Nellie has been adopted, and heartbreakingly, let down...twice. Yet, through it all, she’s never lost her trust, her sweetness, or her incredible capacity to love.
Nellie is smart, strong, and endlessly loyal. She’s house trained, crate trained and already knows her basic commands like sit and down. She loves going for walks, chasing a ball, or keeping a watchful eye on the squirrels and bunnies that cross her path. Give her an active day, and she’ll happily curl up afterward for a cozy nap right by your side.
What makes Nellie so special isn’t just her beauty or her smarts, it’s her heart. Despite the uncertainty she’s faced, she greets each day with hope and affection, ready to give her whole heart to someone who will finally keep her safe. Nellie has met many children and is incredibly sweet and gentle with them!
If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will stand by you through thick and thin, Nellie is waiting, with her soft eyes, wagging tail, and endless love to give. After everything she’s endured, she deserves a forever home where she’ll never be left behind again. Could that be with you? 💗
Nellie is spayed, up to date on necessary, age-appropriate vaccines, 4DX negative, dewormed and microchipped.

While we are a foster-based animal rescue and all of our dogs are in foster care, we do have a cat adoption space at our new Adoption & Wellness Center in Chaska. We also partner with local retail locations like PetSmart Richfield and Chuck & Don's Chanhassen to feature adoptable cats at their stores.

More about this rescue
Carver-Scott Humane Society was founded in 1989 with the mission of connecting animals in need with people who care. Our vision is a world where every animal is safe, cared for, and loved.
In 2017, we introduced a new, innovative rescue philosophy based on our Four Pillars: TNR, Serve Where You Save, FurKeeps, and Adopters Welcome. As of 2018, we adopt over 500 dogs and cats into the community every year, with a nationally reported Live Release Rate of 97%. We serve over 1,000 Minnesota pets and their families annually through our surrender prevention program, FurKeeps, aiming to keep pets out of the shelter system in the first place.
CSHS focuses on serving and saving Minnesota pets, and we do not transport animals in from out of state. We do our best to prevent surrender, which creates capacity for us to transfer most of our animals from high-volume impounds and shelters throughout the state. For the past three years, we have transferred more animals from Minneapolis Animal Care & Control than any other animal welfare organization.
