My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lulu and Lyle, a young, bonded pair who are still learning about the world and will thrive with a patient family willing to give them time, consistency, and love. As their foster says, “Lulu and Lyle are a bonded pair who balance shyness with bursts of play and adventure. Give them lots of time and love and you’ll see just how sweet and silly they can be.”
Lulu is the braver explorer of the duo. She is usually the first to venture out and investigate something new, often encouraging Lyle by example. Lyle sometimes follows her lead, but he also enjoys doing his own thing. Together they are wonderfully independent yet clearly devoted to each other. Watching them snuggle is, as their foster puts it, “ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!”
Both rabbits are high energy, playful, and inquisitive. Their play sessions are full of zoomies, high jumps, and enthusiastic chasing, especially early in the morning and again in the evening.
They are delightfully noisy during playtime and love destroying cardboard boxes with impressive teamwork. Plenty of chew toys are a must, including cardboard, hay blocks, and willow tunnels, to keep their busy minds occupied.
Lulu and Lyle can be nervous around new people at first and may hide but given a calm presence they do warm up a bit. When guests sat quietly nearby, both bunnies soon began sniffing them and accepted treats from their hands. They are extremely food motivated and love to be hand fed hay, greens, and treats. Expect gentle nudges asking for snacks and the occasional attempt to steal food directly from each other’s mouths.
They startle easily and still need time to feel comfortable with petting, but progress is steady. A few pets can be sneaked in during treat time, and with patience they are likely to continue gaining confidence. They enjoy being near their people and will wander into nearby rooms to hang out, even if they are not quite lap bunnies yet.
Their litter box habits have improved significantly with a large litter pan. While a few stray poops still happen, they are doing very well for a young bonded pair. They are free roam in their foster home during the day and settle into a predictable routine of play, exploration, and long naps, showing great potential as wonderful house rabbits.
If you are ready to offer patience, space, and enrichment to a pair of young rabbits, Lulu and Lyle will reward you with joyful zoomies, sweet bonding moments, and the quiet satisfaction of watching shy bunnies grow into confident companions.

Lyle and Lulu are neutered/spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated against RHDV2 (vaccine needs to be administered annually). House Rabbit Society recommends all rabbits see a rabbit-savvy veterinarian once a year.

More about this rescue

Since 1988, House Rabbit Society, its supporters, small staff, local chapters, licensed educators, and other volunteers around the globe have been advocating for the care and well-being of rabbits.

Our goal is to help people see rabbits as intelligent and social pets who thrive indoors. HRS’ mission, philosophy, and policies have influenced the formation of many other nonprofit rabbit rescue groups and set a standard for the treatment and respect of domesticated rabbits. As a nonprofit, we rely on membership support and other donations–large and small. HRS financial documents are provided below, which record our programmatic efforts over the past decade.
