Marcus came to us from the Dallas shelter—again. He was previously adopted from there last year, but sadly, he was returned a month ago. Most dogs don’t get a second chance after staying that long without rescue, but somehow, Marcus held on.
When we first saw him, he was trembling in his kennel. Today, he’s resting on a soft pillow, belly full, and finally starting to relax. He knows he’s safe now.
Marcus is an oversized Chihuahua mix, about 9 years old and 18 pounds (though he could stand to lose a couple). He still needs a little time to fully decompress, but we already see glimpses of the sweet, gentle soul underneath the fear.
He’s looking for a calm, loving home—one where he’ll never again have to face the inside of a shelter. Marcus would do best in a quieter environment. He’s uncomfortable around small children but is fine with older, respectful ones.
If you’re ready to give a senior dog the love and security he deserves, apply today:

Let’s make sure Marcus’s next stop is his forever home.
Adoption fee is $125

Additional adoption info
We are a RESCUE ORGANIZATION; please complete your online Adoption Application, which can be found on our website. We require an adoption application, vet reference, and a home visit with the pet. ALL of our pets are spayed, neutered or scheduled prior to being adopted. They are UTD on shots, heartworm negative, treated or scheduled to be treated, and micro chipped. They must be kept on heartworm preventative for the rest of their lives. Our adoption fees vary. Puppies have an increased adoption fee since they need three or four sets of shots, multiple de-wormings, and other puppy needs to keep them healthy.

CPR is an animal rescue organization run solely by volunteers. Our primary goal is to save dogs from euthanization at shelters as a result of factors such as a lack of funding and space. These wonderful animals are put at risk because they have no one to claim and adopt them. We aim to give them the second chance that they so deserve. Our animals come to us from shelters around DFW and stay in foster homes where they are given the medical attention (vaccinations, surgeries, heart worm testing, etc) and care that they deserve.
