---
- Very friendly, lovable guy; once he knows you, he will follow you around and want to be with you always
- An energetic fellow, but once he's gotten his energy out with a walk or two, he loves to snuggle with you on the couch
- His foster family says he was a pacer for the first day or two they had him, but he has turned into quite the calm couch potato and just needs some daily exercise
- Has been fully housetrained in his foster home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new routine
- Does well on walks; pulls a little so he may do best with a harness
- Sleeps well through the night in his kennel and goes into his kennel during the day with the help of treats and toys
- Likes to chew on Nylabones, chew toys, Kong bones and other similar toys; still needs a little training to know what he can and can't play with - has chewed on a few small things in his foster home, but has ignored shoes, bags, etc., so he just needs a little guidance
- Knows sit and takes treats nicely; needs some help with his manners (will jump up to greet you, to see what you're holding, to check out what's on the counter, etc.), but he's very treat-motivated and trainable
- Has been pretty quiet in his foster home and has not been a frequent barker
- Is a little nervous and unsure of new visitors and does best when he's allowed to meet new people slowly; his foster family puts him in his kennel and lets him meet them while in his kennel/safe spot, and then once that has happened, his family lets him out
- Lived with children in his previous home but may do best in a home where all family members are big enough and old enough to be OK with his energy and size
- Has been getting along well with other dogs in his foster home and in general he is a respectful player, but he does have some energy so he may not be appreciated by low-energy dogs; in the shelter it took some time for him to warm up to new dogs and he preferred slow introductions (dog intro recommended)
- We don't know his history with cats
This pet qualifies for our 7-day Foster-to-Adopt program. If you're interested in fostering to adopt, please reach out to meetme@arl-iowa.org.
All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)
The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label.
