My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Primrose is a sweet, loyal young gal ready to be the star of your life.

At just 2 years old, she has already experienced both deep love and deep loss. She made her way to the shelter after her beloved owner passed away, and she's looking for a forever family that will help her feel safe and loved.

Primrose is playful and intelligent and thrives on human connection. She loves attention, pets and being near her people. When she's had the chance to spend time in a home environment, she's slept peacefully on her dog bed at the foot of the bed.

Prim loves balls, squeaky toys, plushies and tug games and did great with older kids in a home setting. She feels safest when she’s with her people and will thrive in a home where someone is around often to help her build a routine and confidence.

Prim would be thrilled to be your one and only dog - more pets for her! She has gotten along with calm, respectful dogs who give her space; energetic or pushy dogs aren’t the right match for her sensitive nature.

Primrose is ready to give her whole heart to her forever family. If she sounds like your perfect match, come meet her today!

More about this shelter

Founded in 1965, Animal Humane New Mexico is the state’s leading private 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization serving more than 10,000 homeless and at-risk dogs & cats each year. We never euthanize based on age or length of stay and since 2010, have re-homed 100% of healthy pets in our care. We support every companion animal at Animal Humane with outstanding veterinary, social and emotional care, and love.

As a private nonprofit shelter, we receive no city, state or federal funding; each dollar judiciously spent is earned or raised. We are nationally recognized as a top U.S. charity based on financial accountability, transparency, and administrative-to-program cost ratios. Animal Humane is among only 9 percent of nationwide charities to have received five consecutive annual four-star evaluations, the highest possible, from Charity Navigator, including a top score of 100 for accountability and transparency.
