My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Cody.  I’m currently 7 months old.  I started life as Indie, one of the Independence Day pups just a few days old cared for in a loving UAF foster home.  With my creamy coat and floppy ears, everyone thought I would be a medium size, lab-mix like my mom…but my dad must have been a big, striking guy with distinctive eyebrows, lanky frame, and strong muscles.  I’m already 55 lbs. and growing bigger each day; rumor has it I may have some German Shepherd, Great Dane, or Staffordshire heritage. Perhaps a little cattle dog too? I’m super smart, love to play with puzzle toys (which I ace!), and learn commands quickly (mastered sit, down, stay, leave-it, drop, and heel at 3 mos!) and I breezed through puppy teething gnawing on elk antlers with only a few stuffy toy casualties.  I’m fully vaccinated and my vet says I’m very healthy with lots of hybrid vigor!
I may sound like a bit of an over-achiever, but I am proud I never had any housebreak accidents, never chewed shoes, don’t counter surf or bother trash cans, and stay off furniture.  I can run swift laps and leap like a gazelle but I remember to keep “four on the floor” inside and around people.   I’m crate-trained and sleep quietly through the night.
I ride nicely in the car and I LOVE walks!  I’m still learning not to pull on leash (I’m mostly good but there are SO many exciting smells and sounds!).  Luckily, I’m very treat oriented too so easy to train.
With my friendly, athletic energy, I’d love to share my forever home with an active family, especially one with other dog pals to romp with. 🐾💙🐾

More about this rescue

United Animal Friends (UAF) is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit group founded in 2003. Our mission is to provide rescue programs and services to animals and those who care for them. In addition to rescuing, spaying and neutering, fostering, and finding homes for dogs and cats, UAF provides many services for residents of Yavapai County and their pets. Our Spay/Neuter Certificate Program, Community Pet Food Bank and Emergency Medical Program help hundreds of people and pets each year.
