My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Rhapsody is a sweet, sassy girl who had a rough start in life. She was about six months old, still a kitten herself, when she was allowed to become pregnant, and then she and her four babies were dumped in a flooded public garden during a storm. Luckily for them, Rhapsody likes to tell everyone *all* about it when she is unhappy, and someone heard her yowling and was able to follow the cries and find them. Despite being so young she was a good mama to her kittens, and they have moved on to their own homes. Now it’s Rhapsody’s turn to find a forever home where she will be safe and dry and loved ♥

Because of her youthful pregnancy, Rhapsody’s growth was stunted, and now she will be forever kitten-sized. She is also making up for lost kittenhood, playful and energetic and loving life. Her favorite is to play kitty soccer with a jingly ball, chasing it all over the house for 30 minutes at a time! She also enjoys wand toys and the laser dot. Her second favorite hobby is watching birds and squirrels out the window, twitching her tail and staring intently. Rhapsody does not like being picked up or held, but she likes to follow people around and hang out nearby. She jumps onto laps on her own terms, and likes to sleep next to humans on the bed as long as she jumps up there herself. She loves being petted!

Rhapsody loves playing with other friendly cats and is confident around friendly dogs, but she is slow to warm up to both: hiss first, make friends later. So she needs very slow introductions to four-legged family. She does well around school age kids who know how to respectfully treat a cat. Rhapsody is an absolute delight to her foster family, adults, kids, and cats alike. Is she the one you’re looking for to bring a ray of sunshine to your home?

More about this rescue

Purr Partners Feline Rescue is a 501(c)(3), no-kill, foster-based, all-volunteer organization dedicated to saving the lives of cats and kittens in Central North Carolina — incorporated in 2009 by two friends, four cats, and no budget. These two women realized the need for a "cat only" rescue that worked with rural shelters — where cats routinely lose their lives. Purr Partners was founded to save the lives of those most in jeopardy with little hope of survival. High-kill rural shelters became the focus for Purr Partners, and that is still true today. From those humble beginnings, the rescue has grown to over a hundred active volunteers and a budget of approximately $175,000. At any given time there are between 100 and 150 cats and kittens in foster care. We have saved the lives of over 3500 cats and are still growing!
