Onix is a beautiful black mixed-breed pup with the softest heart and a truly sweet soul. He’s looking for a calm, patient home where he can continue to build confidence and learn that the world—and people—can be kind.
Onix came into our rescue with his mom, Cinnamon, a 12-lb Chihuahua who has already been adopted. We’re guessing Onix’s dad may have been some kind of shepherd. Onix is very fearful of any new people but absolutely thrives when other dogs are around. Confident canine companions help him feel safe and encourage him to interact with humans, so a home with at least one friendly dog would be ideal.
He’s a happy, easygoing pup who enjoys playtime and quiet companionship. Onix is shy but making great progress—he’s recently learned to walk on a leash, is house-trained, and kennel-trained. A securely fenced yard is highly recommended so he can feel safe while exploring.
Onix won’t do well in a busy or chaotic household. He will truly shine in a peaceful, low-key environment with adopters who understand that patience and consistency will help him blossom into an incredibly loyal and loving companion.

Our adoption process involves completing a one-page adoption application. Applications are processed within 48 hours.
Adoption fees for cats/kittens are $130.00. All cats/kittens have been wormed, altered, tested for feline leukemia, given age-appropriate vaccinations, and are microchipped.
Adoption fees for dogs/puppies are $300.00 All dogs/puppies have been wormed, altered, tested for heart worm, given age-appropriate vaccinations, and are microchipped.
We also offer our Senior for Senior program matching senior animals to people over the age of 63. Adoption fees are waived for this program.

Camp Companion is dedicated to providing low-cost spay and neuter services for feral, farm and stray companion animals. The organization is funded solely by donations, fundraisers, grants, and adoption fees. All funds we receive are used for veterinary expenses and the cost of care incurred for the animals waiting for their forever homes.
Through our spay / neuter efforts, we encounter kittens and stray domestic cats that need rescue services and a forever home. We have no shelter, but rely on foster homes to care for these rescued pets. Every animal we offer for adoption is spayed or neutered.
