Poker we noted to be a Spirit Cat in the shelter, but has blossomed in his foster home! The foster indicates that he is a very affectionate social and loving cat now. He is actually pretty outgoing and confident.
My Foster Writes: Meet this gentle, peaceful soul who may be shy and fearful at first, but never defensive or aggressive. He's a quiet companion who enjoys soft chin rubs and will lean in and roll over when he feels safe-but he needs a delicate, patient approach. Due to limited socialization early in life, he takes time to adjust and is best suited for a calm, understanding home where he's not expected to be cuddly or outgoing. If you're looking for a low-maintenance, serene presence and are willing to let him come out of his shell on his own terms, he could be the perfect match.
A volunteer writes: Having been with us for over two months, Poker's still trying to find his way. He's determined though and wants to do his best, so he waits for a chance even though he doesn't always know what to do when it comes his way. Passing the day all curled up in his little bed is progress for Poker because he used to be curled up in his den. He's comparatively out and about now, but still a quiet kitty who politely asks others to make the first move. This isn't entirely unusual, especially for someone like Poker who came to us from a home with many other cats, but it does bring a bit of a challenge when it comes to making new friends. Though Poker may not have had as many opportunities to meet new people as other cats have had, he's committed to learning and trusting more, which is why he's started to very sweetly welcome pets. Shelter life can be a lot on our gentle hearted friends, but we know there's a family out there for Poker and hope you will come in and meet him soon.
