My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zannah is a beautiful 2-year old female Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler/Red Heeler mix) who was surrendered by her family on August 14, 2025 (her background story is included with her Petfinder biography).

Zannah has a uniquely-marked white short smooth coat with blue-and red-ticking, a long tail, and an adorable face with expressive brown eyes, a narrow/slender muzzle, and large semi-erect ears.

This lovely girl has the sweetest smile, and she always seemed to be smiling in her photos.

Zannah is a fairly large dog who weighed 68 lbs when she entered our shelter on August 14th.

We had taken preliminary photos of Zannah in her large floor crate and were anxious to take more flattering photos .. Our first opportunity was on August 19th when Zannah was enjoying some out-of-crate time in a shaded outdoor kennel, so we saw our chance and started snapping as many pictures as possible (smile). Zannah was the perfect model and demonstrated how she could 'sit pretty' and remain calm.

Zannah's background story is rather sad since her original owner had become physically able to take care of her .. And another close family member offered Zannah a really good home. Things went well until Zannah saw the other dog in her new family's home giving kisses/licking a child. Zannah apparently thought that she needed to protect the child and decided to take action .. which resulted in the other dog being injured. The family's dog survived the incident, but they felt Zannah needed to find another home.

Zannah was spayed on October 2, 2025 and was also given rabies vaccine.

Update: Zannah went home with a foster family on October 23, 2025 so that she could enjoy a real home environment instead of a shelter kennel .. Zannah is still available for adoption. If you would like to meet Zannah in person, please complete an HSOV adoption application so that we may arrange a meet-and-greet with her foster family.

Zannah was returned to our shelter on October 31st because she was nipping at the foster family's dog ..
