My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***LONG TIMER ALERT***

Meet Rufus! 🐶❤️

Rufus is a 4-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix who has been waiting far too long for his chance at a loving home. Found as a stray 116 days ago, this sweet boy has shown nothing but kindness and resilience during his time in care.
Rufus does well with other dogs and has a gentle, loving nature that shines once you get to know him. While we don’t yet know how he does with kids or cats, or whether he is house or crate trained, what we do know is that he is incredibly sweet and so deserving of a family to call his own.
He is heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations, neutered, and weighs 46 pounds. Rufus has waited long enough—he deserves the same chance at happiness as every other dog. Don’t let him stay here any longer. Come meet Rufus and see if he’s the one you’ve been waiting for. 🐾💙

Rufus's Adoption Fee is waived due to his length of stay.Dogs are $115 and puppies are $110 unless otherwise noted. All cats and kittens are $75.00 unless otherwise noted. Our system automatically updates adoptable websites every two hours. Feel free to email or call us with any questions you may have. Our contact number is 270-887-4175. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30-4 and is closed daily for lunch from 12:30-1. Adoptions are done on a first come first serve basis for owner releases. Strays have a wait list.

We aim to lower the number of homeless/unwanted animals and build a stronger animal protection movement within the community. Most importantly, we strive to find the best possible outcomes for all animals released into our care.
