My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for a loyal little shadow to brighten your days? Meet Rio, a sweet and gentle 9-year-old Chihuahua with a heart as big as his ears! This tan and white cutie is the definition of a devoted companion: affectionate, calm, and always ready to snuggle.

Rio may be small in size, but he’s overflowing with love. He enjoys leisurely strolls, cozy lap time, and being close to his favorite humans. With his quiet charm and soulful eyes, Rio would be the perfect match for someone looking for a mellow, low-maintenance best friend.

Whether you`re curled up with a good book or taking a sunny afternoon nap, Rio will be right there with you, making every moment better.

Rio`s adoption fee is $200, which includes his neuter, microchip, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm test (if over 9 months old), and kept up to date on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

If you are interested in adopting Rio, you may fill out an application at www. tlchs.org or you are welcome to make a Match Making appointment to come out and meet him first. We are open Tuesday – Sunday 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

Go meet their pets

We do adoptions on the square in Dahlonega most weekends, attend various local events, have annual fundraisers, and our animals can be seen at the shelter any day from 10:00 - 4:30 (an hour for lunch from 12:00-1:00). Come by and see the new changes at the shelter as well, ask to volunteer, or just introduce yourself and meet the wonderful staff members.

More about this shelter

Established in 1977, TLC is one of the oldest no-kill shelters in North Georgia. Our shelter is on about six acres near the Lumpkin County shelter, and about five miles east of Dahlonega. Our focus is saving as many homeless pets as we can, and preventing the birth of unwanted pets. We have always relied on private donations to care for as many animals as we can.
