Golf is a sweet pup who recently came from a neglect/hoarding situation and is just beginning to learn what it means to live life as a loved pet. The progress they do make — a wagging tail, choosing to nap nearby, or trusting you enough for a little kiss — will be incredibly rewarding. With a patient, loving home and someone willing to put in the dedication, this pup will show you that every small step forward is truly worth celebrating. They do well with other dogs and would love to have another dog in their home as a companion.
Golf is blooming — slowly, gently, and oh so beautifully. After 2.5 months in his foster home, something in him clicked, and this precious boy who once stayed tucked away in the lower section of the kitchen suddenly stepped out… and into life. The pup who never left his little futon now wanders the house with quiet confidence, and the boy who once froze at the thought of play is now the one instigating it! His pittie foster brother and his chihuahua foster brother have become his greatest teachers, and Golf has finally decided: “Okay… maybe joy really is for me.”
He absolutely adores his dog siblings — trusts them deeply — and follows his pittie foster brother everywhere like a little shadow. If his pittie buddy moves, Golf moves. If his pittie buddy settles in for a nap, Golf is right there beside him. And for the very first time, he has left his kitchen space to sleep next to his foster mom’s bed, curled up right beside the big pittie dog he feels safest with.
Golf watches the way the other dogs interact with his foster mom, taking notes, wanting so badly to be brave enough to join in. You can see it in his eyes — he wants love, pets, and connection — he’s just still learning how to trust human hands. But the desire is there. The longing is there. And he is trying… every single day.
He is sweet, funny, gentle, and so deeply deserving of a patient, soft-hearted forever home. A home with another calm, steady dog who will show him the ropes is not just recommended — it’s essential. He thrives with canine companionship. He studies them. He learns from them. He feels safe because of them.
Golf may take time. He may take several weeks — maybe months — before he fully lets you in. But if you give him the gift of patience, he will give you something priceless in return:
The moment his eyes light up.
The moment his tail wags just for you.
The moment he steps toward you instead of away.
The moment he trusts your love....
Watching Golf grow is witnessing healing in slow motion. Every tiny step is a victory, every bit of progress a miracle. And he is worth every minute — because this boy is on the brink of becoming who he was always meant to be.
If you have room in your heart for a gentle soul learning to trust again, Golf will bless your life in ways you never expected.

More about this rescue
Located in central North Carolina and officially established in 2004, Saving Grace has placed over 15,000 dogs into homes since its inception. These dogs were from rural animal control facilities with little resources and who would otherwise not had the opportunity to receive necessary veterinary care and a chance at adoption. While we have grown significantly over the years and have been successful growing our numbers we still see many great dogs miss the opportunity of adoption.
We have a large variety of dogs varying in breed, size, shape, age and needs and would love to work with you to find you a great dog companion while providing a dog in need with a loving home. Our dogs are chosen based on temperament and socialization. We get some of the most charming, unique mix breeds as well as some striking purebreds. Our dogs come from rural, underserved areas and while they may have little experience as an indoor family member, they have the temperament and personality that is sure to bring much love and appreciation to their new home. Most have started their crate training while in our program. Veterinary care including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test, vaccinations, monthly preventatives are provided prior to each adoption. If you would like more information about adopting one of our dogs, please email savinggrace@savinggracenc.org
