Here's what the humans have to say about me:
CENSUS DEADLINE - Available for adoption or foster SATURDAY, OCT 4th 3pm
Bix Beiderbecke was one of the most influential jazz soloists of the 1920s. Our Bix has no interest in jazz (it’s an acquired taste), but he is hoping to influence you into opening your heart and home to him!
Bix is a pint- sized cattle dog who needs some extra help with socialization and learning to be brave and courageous in the big scary world. He’s looking for a special person or family who can give him time, patience and guidance as he learns all his important doggy skills.
Bix came to the shelter after being trapped, which we imagine was pretty scary! He needs to decompress in a quite home where he can go at his own pace with a family who will help him feel safe. Bix shares his kennel with another PACC pup and benefit from having a confident furry pal to show him the ropes in a home.
If you have a safe place for a pup who needs a little bit of extra help to land, ask to meet Bix today!
Home Management Plan:
1) Bite History • Level 2 bite to ankle of victim, Bix was able to escape his yard and bit victim as they were walking by
2) Prey Drive(has possibly killed chickens) • May chase or pull towards small animals. May need a strong handler when out on walks. • This can be an instinctual behavior, breed related behavior or learned behavior. • Work with a trainer for behavioral modification.
3) Flight Risk • Bix needs to go home with a strong handler. • Keep a dragline on them for at least two weeks; this will help you handle the dog more easily. • Able to jump in and out of 5 ft fence • When outside, make sure to keep hold of their leash until they have settled into the home. Don’t leave unattended. • When outside, make sure to keep hold of their leash until they have settled into the home. • Don’t leave them outside unattended; make sure to monitor them while in the yard. • MUST go home with a martingale collar and flat clip leash. • Bix has a history of escaping their yard and roaming.
6) Undersocialized: • Bix needs to go home with a strong handler. Due to fear behaviors, they may panic over small things or noises and could potentially attempt to flee by bolting. • Needs time to decompress at home, this could take 3 weeks to 3 months or longer. • If dog-friendly, a confiden
