My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Vivacious! Vivacious truly lives up to her name - no matter what, it's impossible to be bored with this lively little lady in your life. Vivacious is a purring machine and total snuggle monster, with a spicy side she loves to show off every now and then. She's street-smart and sassy, with a lot of love to give (on her own terms), the type of kitty only a true-blue crazy cat person could love. Maybe that's you!

Vivacious was found wandering the streets of Philly and trying to enter people's houses, so it's thought that she might have had a home at one point and was trying to find her family. While a kindhearted good Samaritan brought her inside for five days, Vivacious repaid their kindness by biting a family member's ankle (see above re: *spiciness!*) so she was ultimately brought to the shelter to find a home that could be a better match for her needs.

Throughout her time in foster care, we've learned much more about Vivacious's personality and noted that she does tend to chase ankles and swat at people's feet and legs when she feels overstimulated, when strangers approach her, or if she feels cornered (such as if someone enters her room unexpectedly). Despite some initial hurdles with this behavior, as she's gotten to know her foster family and built some trust, her behavior has shown great improvement and she has gone from a frequent ankle-biter to an occasional swat here and there! She also is learning how to play without biting, and to be more gentle with her human friends. Her absolute favorite activity is simply lying on her foster mom's lap and purring loudly, though other favorite hobbies include playing with wand toys and killing spiders, so her future adopter can take advantage of her free and eco-friendly pest control services!

Vivacious shares her foster home with seven cat siblings and a large dog, but she is not a big fan of other furry friends so far and is housed in a separate space. Vivacious would do best as the only pet in a home with no kids so she can be the center of your universe. Once she is familiar with someone, she is the snuggliest lap cat ever, but can take time to acclimate to new situations and unfamiliar folks so her adopters should be understanding of her particularities and preferences.
